Abstract

The article examined the feasibility of the method of closed curettage in patients with generalized periodontitis (GP) II severity associated with persistent herpesvirus infection (HBV). A retrospective analysis of 174 outpatient records of patients aged 35–60 years after the surgical treatment of GP of the II degree of severity was carried out. The method of closed curettage was performed for 100 patients (group 1), open curettage was carried out for 74 patients (group 2). Patients of both groups received therapeutic treatment of GP according to the approved protocols. The effectiveness of closed and open curettage in patients with carriers of HVI is compared.
