The article provides an overview of literary sources related to the following headings: gonarthrosis in patients of an elderly and respectable age and against the background of overweight or obesity. I studied the dynamics and trends of the above indicators in the world in general and in Ukraine in particular. Attention is paid to the processes of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation among persons of older age categories. The structure and dynamics of demographic indicators, the prevalence of gonarthrosis in general and in certain age groups depending on gender were analyzed. The assessment of the influence of overweight or obesity on the course of pathology of the musculoskeletal system in knee arthrosis is given. The mechanism of osteoarthritis has undergone changes. The main factor in the occurrence of this pathology is recognized as inflammation of all joint structures, such as: hyaline cartilage, synovial membrane of the joint, inflammation of the bones that form the joint, the occurrence of inflammation in the synovial fluid of an infectious, reactive or traumatic nature. New pathogenetic ideas about degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the bone and joint system and the influence of excess body weight on their course are reflected. The indicated peculiarities of diagnosis and treatment tactics of this group of patients are related to the military situation in Ukraine. Given demographic trends, the obesity pandemic, physical inactivity, and injury, the prevalence of osteoarthritis is expected to continue to increase worldwide. Persistent pain, progressive disease, and significant mobility impairment lead to a decreased quality of life. Therefore, there is an urgent need to create a diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation model for overweight patients in older age groups with knee osteoarthritis to improve their condition, restore their quality of life and socialization using the capabilities of the medical guarantee program.
Keywords: degenerative-dystrophic diseases, military situation, overweight, people of older age groups.
